The Florida District Chalice Lighter program was started in 1987 to assist neighboring congregations in their efforts to grow. Chalice Lighters are individuals who pledge to respond with a contribution when a call goes out to help a Florida District congregation (minimum of $10, no more than three times per fiscal year). The suggested contribution amount at this time is $25 per call.
Chalice Lighter funds may be sought for the following needs:
> To obtain a new building, to furnish a newly obtained building, or to expand an existing structure
> To underwrite the hiring of a first-time religious professional ~ a minister, religious educator, youth director or music director.
> To encourage the formation of a new Unitarian Universalist congregation
> To supplement creative growth project
Florida District congregations interested in seeking Chalice Lighter funds should fill out an application. The District Executive, in consultation with the District’s Chalice Lighter Grants Panel, will review all applications and determine when a Chalice Lighter call request will be granted.
